Our founder and inspiration, Louis Salvin (Louis Salvin Imports), started in the early 50’s selling high-quality Oriental rugs to the trade. His expertise and business sense were the foundation of what was to become (some thirty years later), one of the most widely trusted and appreciated rug and carpet businesses in the area, Sudbury Rug and Carpet.
Louis’ son, Ken Salvin, discovered a true love of Oriental rugs while working alongside his dad. He came to embrace a true appreciation for their character, beauty, and value, which translated into a love of selling and paring clients with just the right piece for their homes. As a result, Sudbury Rug and Carpet was born in 1985 as a cozy 900 square foot space adorned with a handful of high-quality rugs and a commitment to customer satisfaction. These foundational principles endured, and so now thirty six years, one wife, four children and three grandchildren later, the dream inspired by Louis Salvin lives on in a bright, big and beautiful showroom in downtown Sudbury, MA, with an expanded showroom that has grown to include carpets and rugs of all types, custom fabrications, wall to wall, stair runners, rug cleaning and repair, and design consultation — all under one roof.
